System for a model based analysis of user interaction patterns within web-applications

    No full text
Web pages could be understood as graphical user interfaces to domain specific data provided by the internet. The specification of HTML5 facilitates the realization of user interfaces based on open standards and thereby the easy integration of code for user-tracking in already existing web pages. This paper describes a system for the detection and analysis of patterns within the user-traces. The core component of the system is a module that provides stochastic models for capturing patterns. In contrast to the simple detection of patterns within a stream of interaction events a model based approach condenses the patterns to states. The system enables an analyst to define restrictions to the state space and facilitates the interpretation of the found states

User-centered design and evaluation of an integrated AR-VR system for tele-maintenance

In case of undocumented machine failures on-site maintenance personnel can cooperate with a remote expert using telecommunication equipment. We present a new concept for a maintenance system which provides a synchronous shared visual workspace even when only limited bandwidth is available. A mechanic uses an Augmented Reality (AR) system which is connected to the Virtual Reality (VR) system of a remote expert. The expert interactively creates 3D instructions on his VR system that are displayed on a hand-held tablet computer of the mechanic. The mechanic considers these instructions during his maintenance work but can also interact with the live AR view to create spatial references for the expert. The system was evaluated by 18 experienced automobile mechanics. The maintenance task consisted of the disassembly of the camshaft housing of an internal combustion engine. The results show that participants completed more tasks and used less verbal instructions when using the VR system compared to a video system

Interacting and cooperating beyond space: Tele-maintenance within a virtual visual space

This paper describes an innovative concept and implementation of a maintenance system enabling tele-cooperation of distributed technical personnel. It provides a synchronous shared visual workspace in remote locations with limited bandwidth. A mechanic at the remote location uses an Augmented Reality (AR) system which is connected to the Virtual Reality (VR) system of an expert at the homeland. The expert interactively creates 3D instructions on his VR system that are displayed on a ruggedized hand-held tablet computer of the mechanic. The mechanic considers and follows these instructions during his maintenance work. In addition he can interact in real time with the live AR view creating spatial references for the expert. The system has been evaluated by 18 experienced automobile mechanics, 6 of them technical soldiers of the German army. The maintenance task consisted of the disassembly of the camshaft housing of an internal combustion engine. The results show clearly that participants completed significantly more tasks and used less verbal instructions when using the VR system compared to a video system. Thus, performance was increased by the system. In the paper we will detail the concept, give an overview of the implemented system and present the results of the practical evaluation

Antixenosis of bean genotypes to Chrysodeixis includens (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

The objective of this work was to evaluate bean genotypes for resistance to soybean looper (Chrysodeixis includens). Initially, free-choice tests were carried out with 59 genotypes, divided into three groups according to leaf color intensity (dark green, light green, and medium green), in order to evaluate oviposition preference. Subsequently, 12 genotypes with high potential for resistance were selected, as well as two susceptible commercial standards. With these genotypes, new tests were performed for oviposition in a greenhouse, besides tests for attractiveness and consumption under laboratory conditions (26 +/- 2 degrees C, 65 +/- 10% RH, and 14 h light: 10 h dark photophase). In the no-choice test with adults, in the greenhouse, the 'IAC Jabola', Arcelina 1, 'IAC Boreal', 'Flor de Mayo', and 'IAC Formoso'genotypes were the least oviposited, showing antixenosis-type resistance for oviposition. In the free-choice test with larvae, Arcelina 4, 'BRS Horizonte', 'Perola', H96A102-1-1-1-52, 'IAC Boreal', 'IAC Harmonia', and 'IAC Formoso'were the less consumed genotypes, which indicates antixenosis to feeding. In the no-choice test, all genotypes (except for 'IAPAR 57') expressed moderate levels of antixenosis to feeding against C. includens larvae.O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar genótipos de feijoeiro quanto à resistência a lagarta-falsa-medideira (Chrysodeixis includens).
